Yoram Oron

My formal education has been in the field of Natural Sciences, mainly chemistry and biology, and I pursued a career that resulted in a full professorship, several leading university and national academic appointments, and a respectable list of publications in the very good to excellent journals. However, I have been always interested in art. My father, though an architect by profession, was a graphic editor of journals and an illustrator, my mother painted, my uncle was an accomplished etching artist, and I was acquainted with active artists all my life. Since I can remember, I was always with a pencil and a brush. Some twenty years ago I discovered ceramic sculpture and studied for six years in the studio of Ziv Ben-Dov. After leaving Ziv's studio, I joined the Givat Haviva Sculpture Workshop (Zvi Altman, coordinator) and exhibited my works during their annual shows. I like all the sculpture media, with special emphasis on multiple media, such as combined wood, metal, and stone. I have also written a number of articles for Terminal reviewing exhibitions, artist studios and trends. Currently I live and often exhibit in Eilat and my studio is there now..
